Diese Funktion ist nur im Web verfügbar.
Permission required: Ensemble › Edit
What is this?
With the function Duplicate or delete you manage the lifecycle end of a venue. You have two options:
- Duplicate — create a copy of an existing venue that you use as a template for a similar one.
- Delete — permanently remove a venue that is no longer used.
Both actions are reachable via the three-dot menu or the edit view of the venue.
Duplicate — when does it make sense?
You duplicate a venue for example when you:
- Have multiple similar rooms in the same building (e.g. "Community center, hall 1" and "Community center, hall 2")
- Need a variation of the same seat plan (e.g. concert with/without piano)
- Need a template for new performance venues with similar structure
- Want a backup of a complex seat plan before major changes
How to duplicate
- Go to Events > Ticketing > Venues.
- Choose the venue to duplicate and open the three-dot menu.
- Click "Duplicate".
- Enter a new name (required — otherwise there is a conflict).
- Confirm the duplication. The copy appears immediately in the list.
- Adjust the copy as needed (e.g. other hall number, different seat plan).
Delete — when does it make sense?
You delete a venue when:
- The room is permanently no longer used (e.g. rehearsal room change)
- A duplicate entry was created (e.g. created twice)
- A wrong entry should disappear quickly
How to delete
- Open the venue and click "Edit".
- Scroll down and click "Delete venue".
- Read the warning — Chorilo shows how many events use the venue.
- Confirm the deletion by typing the name exactly.
- Click "Delete permanently". The venue is removed immediately.
What happens after deletion
- Existing events keep their date and time entry but lose the venue assignment.
- Members see "No venue stored" in the event.
- Seat plan assignments are lost.
- Map links no longer work.
Recommendation: before deletion, check which events are affected and possibly assign a replacement venue.
Permission
You need the permission ensemble.edit to duplicate or delete venues. By default the owner and choir director have this access.
Tips
- Rather archive than delete — when you may need the venue later, rename it (e.g. "[Archive] Old town hall") instead of deleting.
- Re-book events before deletion — look in the event overview which events use the venue and assign a replacement first.
- Duplicating is also useful for tests — if you want to experiment with the seat plan without damaging the original, make a copy to test and apply the changes later.
- Delete wrong entries immediately — the longer they stay in the list, the higher the risk that someone selects them for an event.
Frequently asked questions
What is taken over when duplicating?▾
All base data — address, directions, photo, seat plan, areas, objects. You can rename the copy afterwards and adjust individual fields without changing the original venue.
What happens to events when I delete a venue?▾
Events using the deleted venue stay in place — the venue assignment is however removed. You then have to assign a replacement venue manually or continue the events without venue.
Can I restore a deleted venue?▾
No. Deletion is final. When in doubt, duplicate the venue first as a safety copy before deleting — or pause it internally by renaming (e.g. with "archived" in the name).
