What is this?
With Ticket categories you define which ticket types buyers can choose for your event — for example "Adults 20 euros", "Reduced 12 euros" or "Children up to 14 free". Each category has its own price, quota and description.
How to create a category
- Open the event and go to "Ticketing > Categories".
- Click "New category".
- Enter a name (for example "Adults") and optionally a description ("Full price ticket").
- Set the price in euros — 0 euros is also possible for free tickets.
- Set the quota — maximum number of tickets that can be sold in this category.
- Optional: availability period (for example "Early bird only until 4 weeks before the event").
- Save the category. It is immediately available on the public order page.
Typical categories
- Adults — full price ticket
- Reduced — for pupils, students, seniors, severely disabled
- Children — for example under 14 years, often free or half price
- Family ticket — flat price for 2 adults + children
- VIP / Premium — with better seats or sparkling wine reception
- Early bird — cheaper price until a fixed deadline
- Club members — internal special price
What you set per category
- Name and description — shown on the order page
- Price in euros incl. VAT if applicable — service fees are added automatically on top
- Quota — maximum quantity
- Order limit per buyer — for example "max. 4 per person"
- Available from / to — period in which the category is bookable
- Seat zone — when seat plan layout is enabled
Permission
You need events.edit on the event to create or edit ticket categories. By default, the board and choir directors have this permission.
Tips
- Keep the selection lean — fewer categories, faster purchase.
- Descriptions are important: briefly clarify who is entitled to "reduced" — that saves discussions at the entrance.
- Plan quotas realistically — do not overestimate demand, otherwise buyers see "sold out" although seats are still free.
- Use early bird discounts to boost pre-sales.
- For seat plan concerts assign categories to zones meaningfully — for example "Adults" to all seats, "Reduced" only to side seats.
Frequently asked questions
How many categories should I create?▾
Three to four are usually enough — for example adults, reduced (students, pupils, seniors), children and optionally family ticket. Too many categories confuse buyers and slow down the order process.
Can I change categories afterwards?▾
Yes. As long as a category has no orders yet, you can change price, name and quota. With existing orders you can only increase the quota or deactivate the category.
What does the quota mean?▾
The maximum number of tickets that can be sold in this category. Once the quota is reached, the category is automatically marked as "sold out".
