What is this?

With the iCal subscription you get all events of your ensemble automatically into your personal calendar — on smartphone, laptop and everywhere your calendar is reachable. On every change (new event, reschedule, cancellation) the calendar is automatically updated.

How to subscribe to the calendar

  1. Open Chorilo on the web → Events area
  2. Click "iCal subscription"
  3. Copy the link (or click directly "In Apple Calendar" / "In Google Calendar" / "In Outlook")

Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar → bottom left "Other calendars" → "+" → "By URL"
  2. Paste the iCal link → "Add calendar"
  3. Events appear after a few minutes

Apple Calendar (iPhone, iPad, Mac)

  1. Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add account → "Other"
  2. "Add CalDAV account" → server URL: your iCal link
  3. Save

Outlook

  1. Outlook → Calendar → "Add calendar" → "From the internet"
  2. Paste the iCal link → "Import"

What is in the calendar

  • Title of the event
  • Date, time, duration
  • Venue with address (tappable in the calendar app for route planning)
  • Description and notes
  • Link to the detail view in Chorilo (to confirm/decline)

Benefits

  • Spot conflicts — see immediately whether rehearsal and birthday collide
  • Family calendar friendly — partner and family see when you are at choir
  • Works offline — even when the Chorilo app is not reachable right now
  • Works across platforms — smartphone, smartwatch, car display

Permission

Every member can activate their own iCal subscription — no special permission needed. The link is personalized and only shows events you are invited to.

Tips

  • Keep the link private — it is essentially like a password
  • For multiple choirs subscribe to each separately, that gives a better overview
  • Check sync frequency — some apps sync very rarely, this can often be adjusted in the settings
  • For short-notice changes additionally check in Chorilo — calendar sync is not in real time

Frequently asked questions

How current is the calendar sync?
Depending on the calendar app, every 15 minutes up to several hours. Google updates relatively quickly, Apple and Outlook can take up to 24h. For short-notice changes, better also check in Chorilo.
Are cancelled events also shown?
No. The calendar shows only active events. When an event is deleted, it disappears on the next sync.
Can others use my calendar link?
Yes, in theory. The link is personalized and should stay private — whoever has it sees all your events. If you suspect misuse, you can reset the link in Chorilo.
Multiple ensembles in one calendar?
Yes. Per ensemble there is a separate subscription link. You can subscribe to all of them and display them as separate calendars or merged.
