Delete event
Permanently remove an event. All members are informed about the cancellation. Existing attendance and comments are lost.
What is this?
With Delete event you permanently remove an event from your ensemble's calendar. This action is irreversible and should only be used when the event is actually cancelled — not just rescheduled.
How to delete an event
- Open the event via the Events area.
- Click "Delete" in the menu at the top right.
- Confirm in the dialog. Chorilo shows you how many members will be notified and whether tickets are affected.
- Optional: enter a reason — it will appear in the cancellation notification to members.
The deletion takes effect immediately. Members receive a push notification within seconds, followed by a digest email within 10 minutes.
For recurring events
For recurring events, Chorilo asks:
- Delete only this one event — the series stays active
- Delete this and all following — the series ends here
- Delete the entire series — all events incl. past ones are removed
When to edit rather than delete?
- Event rescheduled → edit (change date, RSVPs are preserved)
- Rehearsal room changed → edit (only change the venue)
- Different voice selection → edit (adjust participants)
- Event cancelled completely → delete
Permission
You need events.delete to delete events. This permission is more restrictive than events.edit — typically only choir directors and the board. If you lack the permission, ask someone authorized to do the deletion.
Important to know
- Tickets: With active ticket sales, buyers are refunded automatically. Inform them additionally if needed.
- Attendance: Historical data is lost — export the attendance list beforehand if needed.
- GDPR: A deletion also permanently removes personal attendance data.
