What is this?

The setup wizard is a guided wizard that takes you step by step through the most important setup tasks for your new choir. It summarizes what you should do at the start so the choir can be used productively — and ensures you do not forget anything important.

The wizard runs automatically right after creating a new choir and can be called again any time later.

Which steps the wizard contains

  1. Check base data — name, logo, address, default language.
  2. Define voices — for example soprano, alto, tenor, bass. You can take over standard voices or define your own.
  3. Create choir roles — conductor, music librarian, treasurer and other roles.
  4. Set up permission groups — who can do what? Standard groups are already created.
  5. Invite members — either via invitation link, individual invitation or CSV import.
  6. Create first venue — for example the regular rehearsal room.
  7. Create first event — usually a recurring rehearsal.
  8. Optional: enable public website and link choir association.

How to use the wizard

  1. Open your choir and go to Administration > Setup wizard.
  2. Work through the steps in order. Every step briefly shows you what to do and why.
  3. Skip steps you want to do later — they stay visible in the wizard so you do not forget them.
  4. Mark steps as done — Chorilo remembers your progress.
  5. Finish the wizard as soon as all important points are checked off. You can reopen it any time.

What comes after the setup

As soon as the setup wizard has been completed, first members should be invited and the first rehearsal should be in the calendar. Recommended next steps:

  • Upload sheet music and assign to a voice
  • Write a first announcement to all members (e.g. greeting)
  • Check attendance for the first rehearsal and backfill if needed

Permission

You need the permission ensemble.edit to use the setup wizard. By default the owner and choir director have this access.

Tips

  • Take time for the setup. A carefully set up voice and permission group structure saves much rework later.
  • Rather invite members via CSV import when you have an existing member list — saves individual invitations.
  • Create a recurring rehearsal event right at the start — members see immediately that the choir is actively used and enter their attendance.
  • Use the standard permission groups before creating your own. For most choirs "Member", "Board" and "Choir director" are completely sufficient.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to go through the setup wizard?
No, it is optional. You can also reach all settings individually via the administration. The wizard helps you avoid forgetting anything important at the start though.
Can I restart the wizard later?
Yes. You find it any time under Administration > Setup wizard. Steps you have already finished are marked with a check — but you can edit every step again.
What happens if I interrupt the wizard?
Your progress is saved. On the next call you continue exactly where you left off. Already entered data is not lost.
