What is this?
With Sync now you trigger the fetching of new bank transactions immediately instead of waiting for the automatic nightly sync. Useful after an important transfer, a donation or when you want to evaluate as up-to-date as possible at month-end.
In normal operation Chorilo syncs automatically once a day. This function supplements the automation but does not replace it.
How to start a sync
- Open Administration > Cashbook > Accounts > Bank connections.
- Click the desired connection.
- Click Sync now.
- Wait a moment — usually 5 to 30 seconds, depending on the bank.
- See the number of newly imported transactions in the confirmation.
- Switch to Transactions to see the new entries and reconcile them if needed.
What happens during sync
- Chorilo asks your bank via the PSD2 interface for new transactions.
- Your bank returns the list of transactions since the last sync.
- Chorilo checks each entry for duplicates (via a bank reference).
- New entries are stored as unassigned bank entries.
- The account balance is recalculated.
- Reconciliation suggestions are generated — Chorilo automatically proposes when a bank transaction matches an existing manual entry.
When the sync fails
Common reasons and solutions:
- PSD2 connection expired → re-authenticate via Renew connection
- Bank temporarily unreachable → try again in 1 to 2 hours
- TAN method was changed → re-establish the connection
- Bank requires re-login (e.g. after a security incident) → renew connection
Permission
You need cashbook.edit to manually trigger a sync.
Tips
- Sync at month-end shortly before evaluating — that way you have the current state for reports.
- For important donations or transfers you can sync immediately and do the reconciliation right away.
- Do not overdo it — some banks throttle access on too frequent requests. Once an hour is sufficient even for very active accounts.
- Keep an eye on the date of the last sync — if it is more than 24 hours ago, the connection has usually expired.
Frequently asked questions
How often does Chorilo sync automatically?▾
By default once daily at night. Some banks allow multiple calls per day, others limit to one. Via Sync now you can trigger an additional sync at any time.
Are entries imported twice if I sync often?▾
No. Chorilo recognizes each bank transaction by a unique bank reference. Already known transactions are ignored, only new ones are imported.
Why does no new transaction sometimes arrive when I sync?▾
Three common reasons: no movement since the last sync, your bank only makes transactions available with a delay (1 to 2 business days is normal), or the PSD2 connection has expired.
