What is this?

With Connect bank you link a Chorilo account via PSD2 to the corresponding bank account. After that Chorilo automatically fetches all bank transactions — daily, without you doing anything. That saves hours of manual entry per month and ensures complete bookkeeping.

PSD2 is the EU directive for open banking. It allows third-party providers like Chorilo, with your consent, to read bank transactions. Chorilo works with the regulated provider banksapi.io for this.

How to connect your bank account

  1. First create the Chorilo account under Administration > Cashbook > Accounts > New account if not done yet.
  2. Open the account in the detail view.
  3. Click Edit and then Connect bank.
  4. Choose your bank from the list or search by name/sort code.
  5. Log in with your bank — either with online banking PIN or via app procedure (push-TAN, photoTAN, BestSign etc.).
  6. Confirm access for Chorilo — usually a 90-day authorization, renewal needed after that.
  7. Pick the correct IBAN if your bank shows multiple accounts.
  8. Done. Chorilo immediately loads the last 90 days of transactions and starts daily synchronization.

What Chorilo may do — and what not

  • Read: account transactions, balance, purpose, recipient/sender. Nothing more.
  • Not possible: transfers, standing orders, changing account data, blocking cards.

You keep full control. You can revoke the authorization at any time via your bank's online banking or in Chorilo via Disconnect bank connection.

Permission

You need cashbook.edit to establish a bank connection.

Tips

  • Connect right after creating the account — that way everything runs automatically from day one.
  • If your bank has multiple accounts, first create all Chorilo accounts and connect one after the other.
  • Set a reminder 60 days after connecting — then you can renew in time before the 90-day deadline expires. Chorilo also reminds you automatically.
  • In case of problems with the bank selection, try searching by sort code instead of bank name — some banks have multiple entries.

Frequently asked questions

Is the connection secure?
Yes. Chorilo uses the EU PSD2 interface and reads transactions only. There is no way to make transfers or change accounts. Your banking credentials never reach Chorilo — you log in directly with your bank.
Which banks are supported?
Practically all German, Austrian and Swiss banks plus many other European banks. When connecting, you pick your bank from a list of over 4,000 institutions.
How far back are transactions fetched?
On the first connection Chorilo loads the last 90 days retroactively by default. Older transactions you can import via CSV if needed.
