Delete one of your own messages in the chat. It disappears for all participants and is replaced by a "Message deleted" hint.

What is this?
With Delete message you remove one of your own messages from the chat history. The message disappears for all participants and is replaced by the placeholder "This message was deleted". Reactions and replies to the deleted message are removed as well.
How to delete a message
- Open the chat with the message to be deleted.
- Web: right-click your message and choose Delete.
- App: long-press the message and tap Delete in the action menu.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
Permission
You need the permission chat.create to delete your own messages. You can only delete your own messages — messages of other members cannot be removed.
Tips
- Delete rather rarely. A "Message deleted" hint often draws more attention than the original message.
- For typos rather edit than delete.
- For inappropriate content from others use the report function. Admins can then check the entire chat or individual messages.

Do others see that I deleted a message?▾
Yes. In place of the message the hint "This message was deleted" appears. The content is no longer visible, but the fact of deletion remains traceable.
Can I also delete messages of other members?▾
No. You can only delete your own messages. For inappropriate content from others use the "Report chat" function.
Can a deleted message be restored?▾
No. Deletion is final. If you are unsure, rather edit the message instead of deleting it.
