Block user in chat

What is this?

With Block user you prevent a specific member from contacting you. Useful when someone repeatedly bothers you, you want to avoid personal conflicts or you simply do not want to receive messages from a person anymore.

Effect of the block:

• No new messages from the blocked person reach you
• No new chats the blocked person can start with you
• In the search the blocked person no longer appears for you, you no longer for them
• Existing history is preserved but frozen — no new messages possible

How to block a member

1. Open the 1:1 chat with the member in the web version.
2. Tap the menu at the top right (three dots or gear icon).
3. Choose Block user.
4. Confirm the block in the dialog.

The block takes effect immediately. No notification is sent to the blocked person — they only notice it when they try to message or search for you again.

Lift the block

1. Open your profile settings via the avatar menu at the top right.
2. Choose Privacy & blocked users.
3. Find the member in the list of blocked users.
4. Choose Unblock.

From that moment the member can message you again.

Permission

No special permission is needed for blocking — every member can block others at any time.

Tips

• For one-time conflicts muting is often enough — blocking is a much harder measure.
• In case of harassment or threats also use the "Report chat" function so the moderation team can step in.
• In group chats the block does not work — the blocked person can still see and write messages in shared groups. Leave the group or contact the admin if you need distance there too.
• Use blocking sparingly — for purely organizational matters rather seek direct conversation or involve the choir director/board.
