Manage group chat participants

What is this?

Via the Manage participants function you control who is in a group chat. You can invite new members, remove former participants and view the complete list of all current participants — including a marker for who has admin rights.

How to add participants

1. Open the group chat in the web version.
2. Click the group name at the top of the chat to open the group settings.
3. Choose Manage participants.
4. Click "Add participant" and search the desired member by name, voice or role.
5. Confirm the choice — the member is added immediately and receives a push notification.

How to remove participants

1. Open the participant list as described above.
2. Click the member you want to remove.
3. Choose Remove in the actions menu.
4. Confirm the action — the member is immediately removed from the group.

A system message in the chat informs the remaining participants about the change.

Permission

You need the permission chat.create and must be admin of the group chat to manage participants. Regular participants can only view the list.

Tips

• Keep the participant list current, especially when members leave the ensemble or new section leaders join.
• For voice section chats it is worthwhile to regularly compare the list with the current voice assignment.
• Appointing several admins relieves you and provides backup if you are not reachable.
• Before removing, briefly talk to the member — that is friendlier than a wordless removal.
