What is this?

In the voice trainer settings you adjust how the AI voice trainer works for a particular piece. Here you decide which voices are extracted, what their timbre is, in which key the piece is played and how loop and tempo behave by default.

How to open the settings

  1. Open the piece and switch to the Voice trainer area.
  2. Click the gear icon or the Settings button.
  3. The settings expand, and you can configure everything in peace.
  4. Save the changes. Some settings (such as the timbre) trigger a brief reprocessing.

Which settings are available

Voice line-up

  • Standard: soprano, alto, tenor, bass
  • Extended: soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1, alto 2, tenor 1, tenor 2, bass 1, bass 2
  • Custom line-up: for example only male voices or only female voices
  • Solo voice in addition, when the piece has a solo line

Key and tempo

  • Transposition: play the piece in a different key (such as a third lower for male voice practice)
  • Default tempo: for example 80 % when practising, 100 % at the concert
  • Loop points: fixed jump markers for frequently practised passages

Timbre

  • Standard voice of the AI
  • Brighter or darker timbre for different practice situations
  • More details under Change timbre

Playback

  • Auto loop on or off
  • Count-in before the start (1 bar, 2 bars or off)
  • Click track as a rhythmic aid

Permission

To change settings you need the sheet_music.edit permission. The mix of volumes can be adjusted by every member for themselves, without this permission.

Tips

  • Set the count-in to 1 bar — that helps enormously with clean entries.
  • Use transposition carefully: AI tracks sound good with small shifts, with large jumps the sound can become a bit artificial.
  • Set loop points for the trickiest spots, then you find them again immediately the next time you practise.
  • Match the voice line-up to the real choir — for an all-female or all-male choir you save processing if you only extract the voices you really need.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to set the settings again after each rehearsal?
No. The settings are saved per piece and stay permanently. Even when you close the app, key, volumes and timbre stay as you last set them.
Do my settings affect other members too?
The global voice line-up and the timbre are the same for everyone, because they are part of the voice trainer render. The volume mix is personal and only takes effect for you.
Can I change settings for multiple pieces at once?
No, settings are per piece. For many similar pieces (such as a concert programme) it is good to pick a default line-up right when adding them.
