What is it?

The voice trainer for plays reads your play aloud with distinct voices: every role gets a fixed voice, and stage directions are read by a separate narrator voice. You pick an act and roles and learn your lines comfortably by listening — on the go, while commuting, or at home on the sofa.

The feature appears automatically for pieces of theatre groups. For musical productions there is also the sheet music voice trainer, which creates practice audio for every singing voice.

How to use the voice trainer

  1. Open the piece from the pieces overview and switch to the Voice trainer section.
  2. Import the play: the first time, start with Import play. Acts, roles and stage directions are detected automatically.
  3. Generate an act: pick an act and start Generate act. This takes a few minutes — finished acts are marked with a green dot.
  4. Listen: choose act and roles, start playback and read along. The current line is highlighted; tap any line to jump straight to it.

What you find in the voice trainer

  • Act selection — every act is generated and played individually
  • Role selection — deselected roles are skipped during playback
  • Stage directions toggle — switch the narrator voice on or off
  • Read-along view — the text scrolls along, every line can be played individually
  • Previous/Next — step through the scene line by line

Tips

  • Cue training: deselect your own role and speak your lines yourself whenever your cue comes up — the perfect self-test.
  • Only your scenes: select only the roles you share the stage with to practise in a focused way.
  • Generate only what is being rehearsed — every act is generated individually, which keeps processing lean.

Anyone with View sheet music can listen. Importing the play and generating acts require Create & edit sheet music.

Frequently asked questions

How long does generating the audio for an act take?▾
Usually a few minutes, depending on the length of the act. You do not have to wait — the view updates as soon as the act is ready.
Why does a role always sound the same?▾
Every role is assigned a fixed reading voice, and stage directions are read by a separate narrator voice. That way you instantly recognise each character while listening.
What happens when the text changes?▾
Re-import the play and regenerate the affected acts. Unchanged passages that already have audio are reused — only what changed is generated again.
Who can import the play and generate audio?▾
Anyone with the View sheet music permission can listen. Importing and generating audio require Create & edit sheet music.
