Delete sheet music
Permanently delete a piece from your ensemble's library. All marks, audio files and links are removed along with it.
Diese Funktion ist nur im Web verfügbar.
What is this?
With Delete sheet music you permanently remove a piece from your ensemble''s music library. All related files and data are deleted along with it — that is PDF, MusicXML, audio, voice trainer tracks, marks of all members and license information.
Restoration is not possible. Before deleting, consider whether you would rather archive the piece instead (e.g. with an "Archive" or "inactive" tag).
How to delete a piece
- Open the piece through the sheet music overview.
- Click Edit at the top right.
- Scroll down and find the Delete button.
- Confirm deletion in the safety dialog. Chorilo asks explicitly because the action is final.
Alternatively in the overview you can mark several pieces and delete them together via the actions menu.
What disappears with the deletion
- The file itself (PDF, MusicXML, MIDI, image)
- All audio examples uploaded for the piece
- Generated voice trainer tracks for all voice groups
- Personal marks of all members
- Links to events (events remain, the piece disappears there)
- Tag assignments
- License information and uploaded license documents
Permission
To delete you need the sheet_music.delete permission. Usually only a small group has it (choir director, music librarian). By default all other members are excluded from deletion to prevent mistakes.
Alternatives to deletion
If you are not sure whether you really never need the piece again, these options are often better:
- "Archive" tag: Add a tag like "archive" or "old" and filter it out in the overview.
- "Inactive" tag: Add a tag like "inactive" or "paused" and filter it out in the overview.
- Adjust the description: Note "No longer in current repertoire" in the description so it is clear why the piece is no longer active.
Tips
- Only delete pieces you really do not need anymore — e.g. test uploads, duplicates or legally problematic files.
- Download important marks as PDF before deleting if you want to keep them.
- Inform members briefly before deleting many pieces at once — otherwise confusion arises.
