What is this?

With Download PDF with annotations you download a copy of the score in which your personal notes, slashes and breath marks are drawn directly.

Important: Annotations are drawn exclusively in the mobile app (Sheet music tab > Piece > PDF > pen tool). Web and download are pure display and export functions.

Useful when you:

  • Want to print the score to use it during a rehearsal without a tablet
  • Need a local backup of your annotations
  • Want to use the file in an external sheet music app like ForScore, Newzik or MobileSheets
  • Want to share annotations with someone outside Chorilo

How to download the PDF with annotations

On the web:

  1. Open the piece via the sheet music overview
  2. Switch to the PDF preview
  3. Click the download button at the top right and choose "PDF with annotations"
  4. The file is generated in the background — a few seconds depending on page count
  5. Save the file locally

In the mobile app:

  1. Open the piece in the Sheet music tab
  2. Tap the PDF for the preview
  3. Tap the share icon → With annotations
  4. The file lands in your chosen app (mail, Drive, AirDrop, print)

What ends up in the file

  • All your pen annotations in the chosen colour and stroke width
  • Note signs that you set
  • Page rotation, if you have rotated the PDF
  • Original resolution of the uploaded PDF

Not included:

  • Annotations of other members
  • Audio files or voice trainer tracks
  • Comments or posts
  • License codes (you see those only inside Chorilo)

Permission

To download you need the sheet_music.view permission — so every member. Personal annotations can be set and downloaded by everyone independently.

When the download is worth it

  • Before concerts without digital sheet music — print the annotated version for your own music stand.
  • When switching to a different sheet music app — bring your annotations along without redrawing them.
  • As a backup when you want to preserve important notes long term.
  • At sectional meetings outside the rehearsal — members without a tablet get the annotated score as a printout.

Tips

  • Before important performances, download the annotated version and print it as a backup in case tablet or app fails.
  • Use colours sparingly — too many colours are hard to distinguish in black and white prints.
  • Quickly check the file after download for completeness before passing it on.

Frequently asked questions

Are only my annotations included or also those from others?
Only your own. Annotations are personal by design — other members can set their notes independently from you, and they will not appear in your download.
Can I also download the PDF without annotations?
Yes. The PDF preview offers two download buttons: one for the original file without annotations, and one for the version with your annotations.
How large is the downloaded file?
Annotations are burnt directly into the PDF, so the file size usually stays close to the original. A very large number of annotations can slightly increase the file.
