What is this?

The PDF preview shows the sheet music directly in the browser or in the app — without download and without an external PDF app. You can zoom, turn pages, switch to full screen and draw personal annotations.

The preview is optimised so it also works well on tablets during rehearsal. Many members use it as a digital replacement for printed scores.

How to use the PDF preview

  1. Open a piece via the sheet music overview.
  2. The PDF loads automatically at the top of the detail page.
  3. Turn pages using the arrow keys or by swiping (app, tablet).
  4. Zoom using pinch gestures (touch) or the plus/minus buttons.
  5. Switch to full screen via the full-screen icon at the top right.

Tools in the preview

  • Zoom — plus, minus, reset to 100 %, fit to width
  • Page turn — arrow keys, click on the page edge or mini overview of all pages
  • Full screen — distraction-free view without control bars
  • Pen / annotate — personal notes with colour and stroke width
  • Erase — remove existing annotations
  • Download PDF — original or with your annotations
  • Rotate — when the file was scanned the wrong way around

Drawing annotations

With the pen tool you can draw directly on the PDF:

  • Slashes and slurs — for phrasing or breath marks
  • Note signs like asterisks, arrows or circles
  • Colours for differentiation (red for caution, green for your own voice, ...)
  • Stroke width adjustable for fine or bold marks

Annotations are saved automatically and are only visible to you. Other members can set their own annotations independently.

Permission

To view the PDF you need the sheet_music.view permission. Every member has this by default. Annotations can be set by anyone for themselves, regardless of other permissions.

Tips

  • Use a tablet during rehearsal — landscape, full screen and pen input are perfect for digital sheet music.
  • Apply annotations with a system — for example red for own breath marks, blue for hints from the choir director.
  • Load the PDF once before rehearsal in the app, then the preview also works without WiFi.
  • Rotate the PDF if it is scanned the wrong way — Chorilo remembers the rotation per piece.
