Upload sheet music (PDF, MusicXML, image)
Upload new sheet music as PDF, MusicXML or image for OMR recognition. Multiple files at once, automatic voice detection.
Diese Funktion ist nur im Web verfügbar.
What is this?
With Upload sheet music you add new pieces to your ensemble's library. You can use PDFs, MusicXML files, MIDI files or images for OMR recognition — single files or multiple at once.
As soon as a piece is uploaded, it is available to all members assigned to the chosen voice or group. They can view, download and annotate the piece, and practise it in the voice trainer.
How to upload sheet music
- Open the Sheet music area and click Upload sheet music at the top right.
- Select the file or multiple files — either by clicking on the upload area or by dragging and dropping into the browser window.
- Enter title and composer. If the file name already has a sensible title, Chorilo takes it over automatically as a suggestion.
- Choose the category (such as folk song, pop, classical, sacred) and assign voices (soprano, alto, tenor, bass or mixed).
- Set tags if you want to file the piece directly.
- Optionally enable the email notification so that affected members are informed.
- Save the upload. The file is processed in the background and is available within seconds.
Which formats to use
- PDF — the standard for scanned or purchased sheet music. Looks identical everywhere, ideal for concerts and rehearsals.
- MusicXML / MXL — perfect when you want to use interactive features like transposition, voice extraction or the voice trainer in highest quality.
- MIDI — good as an audio source for older or self-written pieces without a recording.
- Image (JPG, PNG) — for OMR recognition, in case you only have paper scores and want to convert them to MusicXML automatically.
Permission
To upload you need the sheet_music.create permission. By default choir directors and the board have it. Other members can send you material via a post — you then handle the upload.
Tips
- Name the file sensibly before uploading — for example "Bach Jesu bleibet meine Freude.pdf". Chorilo uses the file name as a suggestion for the title.
- Upload matching audio files in the same step so members can prepare at home (separate detail page of the piece).
- Apply tags consistently from the start — that saves a lot of searching later.
- Upload a few large collections rather than many single pieces when you start with a complete concert programme. That reduces notifications.
