Create event from poll result
Create a fixed calendar entry directly from the result of a date poll — pick the popular option, all participants are invited automatically.
Diese Funktion ist nur im Web verfügbar.
What is this?
When you have started a poll for finding a date — such as "When does the extra rehearsal suit you?" — you can turn the result into a fixed event with one click. Chorilo automatically takes over the date and time of the chosen option and creates a full calendar entry.
That saves you the manual step of reading the result and creating a new event — and all members are invited in one go.
How to create the event
- Open the notification with the date poll through the notifications overview.
- Scroll to the poll area and check the current result.
- Click "Create event" under the poll. The button is only visible if you have the events.edit permission.
- Pick the desired option — Chorilo automatically suggests the one with the most votes.
- Add missing event details: venue, notes, score material, participants.
- Save the event. Push notifications go out immediately, emails bundled within 10 minutes.
After saving you find the event in the regular calendar under Events.
What happens to the poll
As soon as you create the event, Chorilo closes the poll for further votes. The poll and the result stay visible — as documentation of how and why the event came about. The notification additionally shows a hint linking to the created event.
Who is informed?
Creating the event triggers the regular event notifications:
- Push notification immediately to all members in the participant group
- Email within 10 minutes bundled
- Calendar entry for all recipients — both in web and app
- iCal sync into members'' personal calendars if subscribed
Permission
You need the events.edit permission to create an event from a poll — that is, the same permission as for normal event creation. By default choir directors and board have this permission. Anyone with only notifications.view can take part in the poll but cannot create the final event.
Tips
- Choose deliberately whether you take the most-voted option — sometimes a closely trailing option is organizationally better, e.g. due to room availability.
- Add a comment in the notification if you decide against the majority — so everyone understands the reasons.
- Set a deadline in the poll so you can create the event in time and nobody is too late for planning.
- Link to the poll notification directly in the event if more info is in the notification text.
