Permission required: Notifications › View

What is this?

Notifications can include attachments — for example a PDF with the concert program, a photo from the last performance, a score scan for preparation or an audio recording for practice. With Download attachment you can open, view or permanently save these files on your device.

Typical attachments in notifications:

  • PDF — program, directions, lyrics, rehearsal plan
  • Image — photo, poster, plan, outfit example
  • Audio — rehearsal recording, voice exercise, tempo reference
  • Office document — Word file with texts, Excel with lists
  • Score format — MusicXML, MIDI, Sibelius file

How to download an attachment

  1. Open the notification through the notifications overview.
  2. Scroll to the attachment area below the notification text.
  3. Tap or click the attachment:
    • In the web: the file opens in the browser or you choose "Save as".
    • In the app: the file opens in the matching app (PDF viewer, image viewer, player) or can be passed on via the share menu.
  4. Save the file locally if you need it offline later — for example for a rehearsal.

Where saved attachments end up

Depending on device and browser, attachments are stored differently:

  • Web (desktop) — in your browser''s default download folder
  • iPhone / iPad — in the "Files" area or directly in the app you open them with
  • Android — in the download folder or in the chosen target app
  • App cache — Chorilo automatically keeps opened attachments in the cache so they remain available offline

Permission

You need the notifications.view permission to download attachments. It is assigned by default to all active members. If you can see the notification, you can open and save all its attachments.

Tips

  • Download important attachments before a rehearsal — the rehearsal room often has poor reception, having them offline saves nerves.
  • For score scans check whether the file is also in the music library — there it stays permanently available.
  • For large files (audio, video) use Wi-Fi to save mobile data.
  • Mind privacy: when forwarding or printing attachments, check beforehand that they are not internal content not meant for outside.

Frequently asked questions

Which file types are supported?
Chorilo supports all common formats: PDF, JPG, PNG, Word (docx), Excel (xlsx), audio (mp3, m4a) and more. MusicXML and notation software formats are passed through directly too.
Are attachments shown offline as well?
Once you have opened or downloaded an attachment in the app, it is cached locally. You can then open it again without internet — for example on the go or in a rehearsal room with poor reception.
Can I download multiple attachments at once?
In the web you open or save each attachment individually. If multiple files should be bundled, download them one after another or ask the author to send them as a ZIP attachment.
Who can see attachments?
All members who can see the notification itself also have access to the attachments. Attachments are stored encrypted and only reachable through the Chorilo app or the web — external links do not work.
