Permission required: Notifications › Create

What is this?

With Edit notification you can adjust an already published notification later — fix typos, add new info or supply a forgotten attachment. The edited version replaces the original and is immediately visible to all members.

Typical reasons to edit:

  • Fix typos or unclear wording
  • Add new information without sending a second notification
  • Supply a forgotten attachment
  • Adjust meeting point or time in the text
  • Refine the poll description

How to edit a notification

  1. Open the notification through the notifications overview.
  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the detail view.
  3. Choose "Edit" in the menu.
  4. Change title, text or attachments as desired.
  5. Save the change. The notification is updated immediately and marked as "edited".

Push notifications and emails are not resent on an edit — anyone with push enabled only sees the changed content the next time they open the notification.

When you want to inform members

If the change is important and everyone should be actively informed, you have two options:

  • Write a comment under the notification with a hint about the change. That triggers a new notification to everyone who has commented or reacted on the notification.
  • Compose a new notification with the updated content. That makes sense for short-notice schedule changes or when all members must definitely see the new info.

Permission

You need the notifications.create permission to edit notifications. You can always edit your own notifications. You can edit other people''s notifications if your role has corresponding rights — typically choir directors and board.

Tips

  • Fix typos quickly — the longer the notification stands, the fewer members see the corrected version immediately.
  • Mark important changes at the start of the text with a short note like "Update on May 5: rehearsal start now 19:30".
  • Leave the original information in place when you only add to it — members can then trace what has changed.
  • For critical schedule changes (cancellation, room change shortly before rehearsal) write an additional new notification.

Frequently asked questions

Do members get a new notification when I edit?
No. Editing does not trigger a new push notification or extra email. If you want to communicate a substantial change, write a comment or compose a new notification instead.
Do members see that a notification has been edited?
Yes. Edited notifications show an "edited" hint with a timestamp — so it stays traceable that the content was changed afterwards.
Can I also change attachments or the poll later?
You can add or remove individual attachments any time. A poll can only be changed in a limited way — once the first votes are in, you can no longer delete options to avoid distorting the results.
Can I only edit my own notifications?
By default you can edit notifications you have authored yourself. Members with the notifications.create permission can also edit other people's notifications — for example when the choir director needs to update an old board notification.
