Permission required: Notifications › View

What is this?

With Archive notification you tidy up your personal notification overview without losing the notification or letting other members notice. The notification disappears from your main list and lands in your personal archive, where you can pull it back any time.

Unlike deletion, the notification is fully preserved along with comments, reactions and attachments — it has only disappeared from your daily view.

How to archive a notification

  1. Open the notification through the notifications overview.
  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the detail view.
  3. Choose "Archive".
  4. The notification disappears immediately from your overview and lands in your personal archive.
  5. Restore if needed — go to the archive, open the notification and choose "Restore".

When archiving makes sense

Typical situations for archiving:

  • Event has happened — rehearsal info or performance notification is no longer needed
  • Poll has ended — result is clear, the notification does not need to stay in the overview
  • Discussion completed — comments are read, replies given
  • Tidy up the overview — you have many old notifications and want to see only current ones
  • Personally done — you have absorbed the info and need no more reminder

What other members see

Nothing. Archiving is a purely personal action. Other members continue to see the notification in their overview, can comment, react and take part in polls. The author also gets no hint that you have archived the notification.

When a new comment arrives on a notification you have archived, you usually still get a push notification — and the notification may slide back into the active list, depending on settings.

Permission

You need the notifications.view permission to archive notifications. It is assigned by default to all active members. If you can see a notification, you can also archive it personally.

Tips

  • Archive regularly rather than delete — the overview stays tidy without losing information.
  • After every event or performance you can archive the related notification — that way only current items stay in view.
  • Search in the archive when you need an old piece of info — the search can include archived entries on demand.
  • For important notifications with attachments archive instead of delete — the attachments stay available.

Frequently asked questions

Do other members see that I have archived a notification?
No. Archiving is a purely personal action — other members continue to see the notification in their overview. The author also does not notice anything.
Where do I find archived notifications again?
In the Notifications area you find an "Show archive" option at the top or in the filter. There all notifications you have personally archived are listed.
Can I bring an archived notification back?
Yes. Open the notification in the archive and choose "Back to overview" or "Restore". It then reappears in your active notification list.
Is the notification archived automatically when I have read it?
No. Notifications stay in your overview until you actively archive them. Anyone who considers a notification done can move it to the archive any time — for example after an event has happened.
