What is this?

The piano keyboard in the PDF viewer is an overlay virtual keyboard at the bottom of the sheet music PDF. Handy for quickly sounding individual notes, intervals or chords — without switching apps or needing a real piano.

How to use the keyboard

  1. Open a piece in the Sheet music tab
  2. Tap the PDF for full-screen view
  3. Tap the piano icon in the toolbar
  4. The keyboard appears at the bottom edge
  5. Tap keys to play — light touch for single notes, hold for longer tones

Features

  • Multi-octave — scroll horizontally for higher/lower ranges
  • Multi-touch — multiple keys at the same time for chords
  • Highlighted notes — shows the name of the currently tapped note
  • Volume control — adapts to the device volume
  • Sound options — piano or simple sine tone (for plain pitch reference)

When is it useful?

  • Sectional rehearsals on the go — quickly sound the starting note without a separate device
  • Interval exercises — play two tones in sequence
  • Chord clarification — play back the chord at dissonant spots
  • Practice tricky leaps — briefly hear the target note before singing
  • No piano at rehearsal — improvised pitch pipe for unaccompanied pieces

Tips

  • Test the keyboard before rehearsal — set volume and sound
  • Discreet in concert — fold the keyboard away if backstage noise would disturb
  • Combine with the metronome — pitch reference + tempo, all in one
  • Not a substitute for a real piano — the keyboard is a fallback, not a replacement for proper practice on the instrument

Permission

Every member with sheet_music.view can use the keyboard.
