What is this?
With Delete account you remove your Chorilo account completely and finally. All personal data — profile, photo, memberships, settings — is deleted to GDPR standards. Contributions in choirs stay anonymized so discussions remain traceable for others.
This action cannot be undone. Think carefully before doing it.
How to delete your account
- Open the profile and pick "Delete account".
- Read the deletion notes carefully.
- Confirm your password for safety.
- Click "Delete account permanently" and confirm the safety prompt.
- You are logged out immediately. Data deletion happens in the background within a few hours.
- Optional: you receive a confirmation email about the successful deletion.
What happens to your data
- Profile master data (name, email, photo, address) is deleted
- Memberships in all choirs and associations end immediately
- Contributions (notifications, comments, chats) are anonymized to "Deleted member"
- Uploaded files (sheet music, photos) stay with the choir — they were shared with the choir, not privately
- Bookkeeping data stays for legal retention periods
Permission
You can only delete your own account — nobody else can do it for you. Even Chorilo support only deletes accounts with your explicit written confirmation.
Preparation before deletion
- Hand over board roles — if you are the only board member in a choir, organize the handover beforehand.
- Make a data export (optional) — through Profile > Privacy you can fetch all your data as a download beforehand.
- Step down from association work — if you are an association staffer, arrange a successor or inform the association office.
- Back up your own content — for example sheet music you uploaded if you want to keep it.
Tips
- Instead of deleting completely, just log out — if you only do not need Chorilo for a while, logging out is enough. Your account stays unchanged for your return.
- In case of conflicts in the choir: leave the choir first (via canceling choir membership) before you delete the whole account. That way your other choir memberships stay intact.
- Ask Chorilo support if you are unsure — we check together whether deletion is really necessary or another way fits better.
Frequently asked questions
Can I come back after deletion?▾
No. Deletion is final. If you want to use Chorilo again later, you must create a completely new account — all old memberships and data are gone.
What happens to my contributions in choirs (events, notifications, chats)?▾
Content is generally preserved but anonymized as "Deleted member". So discussions stay understandable without your name being visible. Personal data is fully removed.
What if I am on the board of a choir?▾
Before you delete, hand over your board role to another person. If you are the only board member, the choir may otherwise become unable to act. We strongly recommend a clear handover.
Are bookkeeping data also deleted immediately?▾
No. Data we are legally required to retain (e.g. invoices for paid features) stay for the legal retention periods — typically 10 years. Personal profile data is still removed.
