Mark all as read

Set all unread notifications to "read" with one click. The bell badge goes to zero — content stays unchanged.

What is this?

When your bell badge shows two-digit numbers and you do not want to click each notification individually, there is "Mark all as read" as a quick bulk action. One click — all open notifications move to "read", the badge goes to zero.

How to mark all as read

  1. Click the bell icon in the header.
  2. In the dropdown click "Mark all as read" (top right or at the end of the list).
  3. Confirm the action if a safety prompt appears.
  4. The badge disappears — all notifications are now marked as read.

What happens

  • Badge goes to zero — no unread in the header anymore
  • Content stays unchanged — nothing is deleted
  • List stays sorted — old and new entries remain visible
  • Push notifications on smartphones usually disappear too (sync-dependent)

Permission

Available to every signed-in user — no special permission.

Tips

  • Use the function consciously — if you use it permanently without really reading, it does not replace content control. Better to reduce notification settings so fewer come.
  • Useful after vacation — when you were away for a week and the bell shows 80 unread, "all read" plus targeted browsing in the full view makes sense.
  • If you do not want to miss something important, browse the dropdown beforehand — bulk marking can also push important things out of view.

Frequently asked questions

Are notifications deleted by this?
No. They are only marked as "read" and stay visible in your list — only the badge on the bell icon goes to zero.
Can "all read" be undone?
You can mark individual notifications as unread again via the actions menu per entry. There is no bulk undo action.
Does anyone notice when I have read notifications?
No. The read status is private — other members or the board do not see whether you have already read a notification or not. Exception: chat read receipts are handled separately.
